The 3rd Annual East Africa Cement, Concrete and Energy Summit was successfully conducted on August 1st and 2nd, 2018 at UN-ECA Conference Center in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia under the theme “Sustainability of cement and concrete investment in East Africa"
The i-Capital Africa Institute organized the Summit in collaboration with the Cement Technology Center of Adama Science and Technology University (CTC-ASTU) and Ethiopian Cement Producers Association (ECPA) and with a strategic partnerships from Chemical and Construction Input Industries Development Institute (CCIIDI) and Ethiopian Construction Projects Management Institute (ECPMI).
Gemechu Waktola (PhD), founder and CEO of The i-Capital Africa Institute during his welcoming speech noted that the annual summit provides a common platform for key players and stakeholders of the region's cement, concrete, and energy sectors in shaping the future of the region and ensuring the sustainable future of the industry is the collective task of the sector and other stockholders.
The official opening speech was provided by Engineer Ayisha Mohammed, Minister. Minister of Construction, who was a Guest of Honor at the summit, stated that the summit brought together actors who plays a great role in leading changing the sector in the country as well as in the region.
Around 335 participants form different area of the sector joined in the summit. Participants include academicians and researcher from various university, business leaders of the sectors, different policy makers, different personnel from governmental institution in the construction sector, and more.

The i-Capital Africa Institute creates a platform for knowledge sharing and critical voices, that facilitates continuous learning and improvement as part of addressing the challenges in the sectors through creating the platform for business leaders, experts, policy makers, technology suppliers and researchers.
The summit was successfully completed, we believe the ideas and suggestions raised in the discussions at the policy roundtable and panel discussion of the summit will contribute immensely in shaping the future of cement, concrete and energy sector success in East Africa.
